Police in Ogun State has arrested two members of a syndicate who specialized in vandalising telecom mast in Ifo Local Government Area. 

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement in Abeokuta that the two suspects were arrested following a distress call received that hoodlums numbering about ten had invaded a telecommunication mast at Abule Ogun area of the town and they were about carting away the back-up batteries of the mast.

Mr Oyeyemi pointed out that the DPO Ifo Division, Mr Adekunle Samson mobilized his anti-robbery team to the scene of the incident where two members of the gang were arrested while others escaped.

He listed items recovered from the suspects to include a Volkswagen bus with registration number APP 871 XH, twelve telecoms back up batteries valued at about three million naira, gas cylinder, iron cutter, and other house breaking equipment.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered a massive manhunt for the escaped members of the gang and directed that the arrested suspects be thoroughly investigated with the view of charging them to court as soon as possible.
