Ondo State has recorded its first index case of covid19, an Army officer, who recently returned from India.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro who confirmed this to Radio Nigeria in Akure said the Military personnel had been in self-isolation since he returned over a week ago and was being monitored by the State Inter-Ministerial Committee in collaboration with the NCDC after which he tested positive for coronavirus.
Dr Adegbenro noted that the victim had been moved to the infectious disease centre in Akure for prompt medical treatment.
He urged residents to keep calm and obey all directives already set by governments against the spread of coronavirus.
Dr Adegbenro said the government would not leave anything to chance in containing the disease in the state.
