On the occasion of World Health Day, the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NAMMS, wants the Federal Government and other relevant agencies to monitor the activities of private hospitals and enforce standard practice in their operations as the world combat the corona virus pandemic.

The Ogun State Chairman of the Association, Mrs Funmilayo Solarin who made the plea in a chat with Radio Nigeria said such measures would help to ensure the safety and welfare of nurses and midwives working in the private sector.

Mrs Solarin, while speaking on the theme of this year’s World Health Day celebration “Support Nurses and Midwives” said the call became imperative as nurses continued to render selfless services at the forefront of the battle against COVID 19.

The Ogun State Chairman of NANNM, who urged members to stay safe and avoid exposures to infectious disease, also implored employers to motivate the nurses and support them to function effectively.

Mrs Solarin encouraged Nigerians to embrace precautionary measures and keep the hope alive that the challenge of Coronavirus pandemic was surmountable.
