The University College Hospital, UCH committee on response to emergencies and outbreak of diseases says the coronavirus pandemic can be halted through joint efforts of all Nigerians.

The Chairman of the committee, Professor Kayode Osungbade and lead nurse on the team, Dr Olubunmi Olofa made this known while speaking with Radio Nigeria on recurring issues on the global Covid 19 pandemic.

Dr Olofa said with the ravaging impact of coronavirus pandemic on the global community, it was time Nigerians commit themselves totally to ending its spread.

Dr Olofa noted that this could be done by observing basic health rules of hand washing, cough hygiene, maintaining social distancing and most importantly being vigilant and reporting suspected cases of Covid 19 to relevant authorities.

She advised people who have been confirmed for coronavirus to cooperate with experts for them to be adequately managed, as there were no drugs or vaccines for the pandemic yet

Speaking on availability of ventilators and personal protective equipments, Professor Osungbade explained that there were ventilators at the Agbami and UCH centers but more would still be needed as more cases are confirmed.

Professor Osungbade pointed out that the committee was working across all the isolation centers in state, urging people to call the following numbers 08095394000 and 08095863000 to report any suspected cases.
