Ekiti State Government says it will ensure the independence of the State Security Network Agency code-named ‘AMOTEKUN’ to enhance optimal service delivery.

Governor Kayode Fayemi, who announced this at a meeting with the Board Members of the security network in Ado Ekiti, said that there would be standard operation procedures to guide the services of the Amotekun corps in the state.

He emphasized that the State Security Network was initiated to complement the efforts of the existing security Agencies, saying that Amotekun corps was not an enforcement Agency for political party but mianly for the safety and security of Ekiti citizens.

Dr Fayemi said that the Board Members of the Agency comprised people of proven integrity, who would bring to bear their wealth of experiences in the security sector.

The governor explained that recruitment, training and deployment of Amotekun Personnel would commence after the inauguration of the Board Members.

Earlier, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Olawale Fapohunda noted that necessary legal frame work had been put in place for the State Security Network Agency and the newly appointed Board Members would be screened by the State House of Assembly.

Also, the state Chairman, Council of Traditional Rulers and Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Ajibade Alabi expressed confidence in the ability of the Board Members towards delivering on their mandate and called for proper training of personnel that would be recruited.

Other Heads of Security institutions present at the meeting promised to collaborate with the state’s Security Network Agency towards attaining a crime free society in Ekiti.
