The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, in Delta State says it has activated five Anti-Vandal teams, especially along the River Niger, making the amphibian force of the NSCDC operational in all the waters across the state.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Chike Ikpeamonwu, stated this in a news briefing at the command headquarters in Asaba, where he noted the Corps has also strengthened the ability of its patrol teams on land leading to the reduction of criminal activities such as vandalism of critical national assets.

Commandant Ikpeamonwu said according to its mandate to respond to disasters NSCDC has played an active role in ongoing fight against coronavirus pandemic, stressing the force have collaborated with other security agencies and the State Government to man the State’ borders including other measures to protect lives of the citizenry which is the most critical national asset.

On the recent spate of herders/farmers clashes in parts of the state, the Civil Defense Boss said the Agro rangers Unit of the NSCDC have been proactive in addressing crises situations across in the state, including the recent deployments of Agro Rangers to neighboring Edo State for peacekeeping mission.

He added that plans were on to build the capacity of personnel through training to address current security challenges in the area.
