The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Oyo State Area Unit has called on the Oyo State Government and the Inspector General of Police to unravel killers of Barrakat Bello.

Barakat Bello, who was a student of Federal College of Animal Health and Production (Moor Plantation) Ibadan was allegedly gang-raped and machete to death at her house, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

A statement by the Ameer of the society, Mallam Abdul Kabir Yekeen, states that violence against women in any form is against Islamic injunctions and must be stopped.

The society commiserated with the family, friends, and members of MSSN over the heinous crime.

Similarly, the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Oyo State chapter has called on stakeholders to intensify the campaign against rape.

Reacting to the murder of Barrakat Bello in Ibadan, the chairman of the council, Mrs Adebobola Agbeja explained that the increase cases of rape was a concern of all and sundry, saying that nowhere seemed safe again as perpetrators carried out their evil act anywhere without respect for age, gender, religion, or tribe.

Mrs Adebobola therefore directed member organizations of the council to join in the campaign against rape and other forms of criminality.
