In Ekiti State, Sexual Violence against Children, Compulsory Treatment/ Cares Bill has been signed into law by Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, to prevent such practice and prioritize the welfare of the victims.

Performing the ceremony in Ado-Ekiti, Governor Fayemi directed the Ministry of Justice to always make public the names of those engaged in sexual abuse so as to shame the person.

Dr Fayemi explained that the Bill was signed into law to reflect the zero tolerance of his Government to child and sexual abuse.

The governor noted that efforts would be geared towards putting a stop to such practice in Ekiti and called on civil society organizations to join hands with government to stop the ugly trend.

Earlier, the Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr Funminiyi Afuye had told the gathering on the importance of the Bill and commended the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and Wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi for their passion and commitment to women/girl child welfare in the state.
