Some parts of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital were today flooded following about twelve hours of heavy downpour in the city.

The rain which started around three o’clock midnight submerged some houses and vehicle around NNPC, Amolaso, Sokori and Isalẹ Igbehin areas of Abeokuta among others.

Some residents of Abeokuta while speaking with Radio Nigeria however stated that no casualty was recorded.

Mr. Sulaiman Sopeju of Amolaso area explained that the expansion of the roads and the drainages constructed by the last administration ameliorated the impact that would have been created by the torrential rain.

He cited the experiences of some years ago which led to the death of some residents coupled with loss of property running to millions of naira.

Also speaking, Mr. Taofeek Lawal said there are more awareness on the flash spots when it come to the flood during the rainy season.

Many houses along the flood plain in Ogun state had been evacuated after the state experienced some deaths from flash flood.
