As government lifts partial ban on worship centers, the National Orientation Agency, in Ekiti state has called on religious organizations to put in place necessary measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

The Director of the Agency, Mr Dayo Famosaya made the call in Ado Ekiti during an advocacy visit to motor parks and Ewi’s palace.

He explained that more cases of Covid-19 could be recorded if necessary measures put in place by the government were not strictly followed.

Mr Famosaya maintained that partial lifting of ban on business and religious activities in Ekiti did not translate to reduction in the community spread of the virus.

He described the daily figures released by the National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, as alarming.

In a remark, one of the drivers’ union executives, Mr Amuda Olanipekun commended relevant government stakeholders in their quest at curtailing the spread of the virus and urged them not to relent.

Also, the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe appealed to members of his traditional council to intensify campaigns at their various domains to further check community spread of the virus.
