Protesters under the aegis of Osun Civil Society Coalition yesterday
hit the streets of Osogbo, the Osun State capital, demanding reversal
of the hike in electricity tariff and the petrol price.

The protesters who converged on Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Old
Garage matched through Oke-Fia Junction, Alekuwodo, Ola-Iya Junction
and eventually terminated the protest at Fagbewesa.

The protesters were armed with banner and placards with various
anti-government inscriptions.

A leader of the protesters, Mr Waheed Saka, said the hike had brought
untold hardship on Nigerians and called for immediate reversal.

Also speaking a human rights activist and lawyer, Barrister Alfred
Adegoke said the social economic effects of the hike were immediate
and unbearable noting that these contradict the electioneering
promises of the present administration.
