Oyo State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Shell Nigeria Gas to extend its gas pipeline framework into the state to improve energy and power supply thereby boost industrialization.

The MOU was signed by Governor Seyi Makinde together with Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Gas at the Executive Council Chamber of the Governor’s Office, Ibadan. 

Governor Makinde said the project when completed would reduce industries’ reliance on diesel to run their power and expand the frontiers of investment in the state.

The governor disclosed that the project would be built and operated by Shell and transferred to the state after 15 years.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Gas, Mr Ed Ubong explained that the project, aside fostering accelerated development in the state, would also generate employment and skills development and provide uninterrupted access to power.

The Deputy Governor, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan and other top government functionaries were present at the signing ceremony.
