Government at all levels in Nigeria have been called upon to intensify efforts aimed at rescuing young Nigerians trafficked into Middle East, Lebanon and other European countries.

Speakers at a conference organized by Journalists International Forum for Migration in Ibadan stated this while presenting papers on migration issues and other challenges.

Among the speakers were members of African Union Labour and Migration Committee, Dr Princess Ocansey, representatives of Nigerian Immigration Service, International Organization for Migration within and outside African continent, foreign ministers overseeing migration and labour matters.

Addressing the participants, the President, JIFORM, Mr Ajibola Abayomi said the organiization was not pleased with plights of migrants from Nigeria and outside the country.

Mr Abayomi, who appealed to government to support the organization, said the organisation would not relent in reporting migration issues.

Chairman on the occasion, Professor Patrick Lumumba stressed the need for people documentation to update migration data in each African countries with citizens in the diaspora.

The conference which held at the pensioners FM Ibadan through zoom ends today.
