Ogun State Police Command says the reported death of the Head of Electrical and Electronics Department of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State, Mr Mufutau Olayemi Waliyu was an assassination which the command has begun hunting for the killers.
The spokesman of the command, Mr. Abímbólá Oyeyemi while speaking on the incident said it was a case of assassination noting that the assailants did not touch any of the property in the vehicle of the victim.
He stated that the Commissioner of Police had ordered full investigation into the case by the Homicide section of the police.
The lecturer Mr Mufutau Waliyu, was reportedly waylaid by the assassin on his way out of the institution and was shot severally.
He was rushed to the State Hospital, Ijaye, Abeokuta, where he was confirmed dead.
The Head of the Public Relations at the institution, Mr Yinka Adegbite told newsmen that the police have taken over the investigation while arrangements were being made to bury the remains of the deceased.
