Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has directed Civil Servants and other government workers in the state to proceed on Christmas and New Year holidays from Thursday 24th December till January 4 amidst an increase in COVID-19 infections in the country.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Kunle Somorin, Governor Abiodun called for restraint during the Christmas and New Year festivities and announced the suspension of street carnivals, crowded cross-over night service and parties in the state.

Governor Abiodun also directed that religious and worship centres should not exceed 50 per cent of their capacity, adding that there should be no gatherings of more than 50 people at any event or ceremony.

While pointing out that all schools in the state would remain closed until January 18, 2021, Governor Abiodun said bars, nightclubs, event centres, recreational centres in the state have also been closed down indefinitely. 

The governor further directed that all markets would be opened strictly between 8 am and 4 pm and called on motorcycle riders, tricycle, bus, car, taxi and other transport operators not to carry passengers above 50 per cent of their capacity.
