Government has been urged to invest in agriculture sector to provide avenue for employment and wealth creation for overall development of the nation.

An agriculturalist, Engineer Sunday Atoyebi stated this at the end-of-year party of National Forum of Heads of Federal Government Establishments in Nigeria, Osun State chapter.

Engineer Atoyebi noted that government must diversify the nation’s economy with substantial focus on the agriculture sector, especially in the face economic crisis bedeviling the nation.

He called on stakeholders in the agriculture sector to be more alive to their responsibilities of making farming more attractive to young ones.

In a remark, Osun State Head of Service, Mr Festus olowogboyega said the government had commenced payment of national minimum wage for workers in the state with a view to sustaining industrial harmony.

Mr Olowogboyega lauded Federal Government workers in the state for their contributions to growth and development of the state.

In her welcome address, the chairperson of the forum, Mrs Omolara Kehinde said the forum would continue to champion the course of its members in the state.
