The Osun State Police Command has dragged a 38-year-old herb seller, Ganiyat Oladapo before a Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly selling a baby of a nursing mother identified as Mariam Oladapo for N150,000.

Oladapo was arraigned on two-count of conspiracy and unlawful procurement of a child.

The prosecutor, Police Inspector Jacob Akintunde informed the court that Oladapo and others now at large sometime in June 2020 at Osogbo conspired and procured one Mariam Oladapo from Osogbo to Anambra State where her child was sold for N150,000 and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 14(2) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Law Enforcement and Administration Act, 2003.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her.

The defence counsel moved an oral bail application which was later opposed by the prosecutor on the grounds that Oladepo would run away and not honour her trial.

The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Awodele granted bail to the accused person in the sum of one million naira with two sureties.

She then adjourned the case to February 9, 2021, for hearing.
