A retired Commissioner of Police, Mr David Akinremi, has been appointment as the Ogun State Commandant of the South West Security Outfit, code-named “Amotekun”.
The Chief of Staff to the Ogun State Governor, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta.
Alhaji Salisu who said that the commencement of the security outfit was expected to fortify the existing security architecture in the state, pointed out that Amotekun would have formations in all the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Chief of Staff said the state government had procured one hundred Patrol vehicles, two hundred motorcycles and communication gadgets to enhance the operations of the security outfit.
He said that the security of lives and property, particularly in the remote areas required collective effort with the full operation of the security outfit, adding that the days of criminals in the state were numbered.
