President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will receive the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine publicly on Saturday, Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Faisal Shuaib, said at a media briefing at the State House on Thursday.

He said they would be inoculated after health workers from the National Hospital Abuja are vaccinated on Friday, at the launch of the campaign.

Nigeria received its first batch of over 3.9million vaccine on Tuesday, as the virus has killed 1,940 Citizens.

Similarly, Nigerian Governors will be taking the COVID19 vaccines on Wednesday next week with their deputies before administering them to frontline health workers and the elderly in the states.

The Head of Media and Public Affairs of the Forum Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo made this known after the forums meeting in Abuja.

The statement explained that governors expressed their commitment to work with the Federal Government to ensure that the vaccines are protected and encouraged Nigerians to use the e-registration portal of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency to register.

Chairman of the Presidential Tax Force and Secretary to the government of Federation Mr Boss Mustapha, Director-General of National Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr Faisal Shuiab, officials from Federal Ministry of Health and medical experts were at the meeting to guide governors on the safer ways of administering the Covid 19 vaccines.
