The 63 Brigade headquarters of the Nigerian Army in Asaba, says the force has apprehended five army impostors and a serving Mobile Policeman during routine patrol along Kwale-Ogwashi-Uke expressway in Delta State.

The arrest was announced in a statement signed by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations Officer, 63 Brigade Captain George Okukpe.

The suspects included 39 year old Sergeant Stanley Agwuchi, a serving personnel in Ogwashi-Uku Police Division, and four others.

According to the statement, the suspects were arrested while harassing commuters and disturbing the peace in the area, with the intention of kidnapping or robbing their victims.

It also noted that another two army impersonators were arrested including one deserter, Private Ogodo Gideon and an internet fraudster, Mr. Onovughegor Augustine, during a raid at Ogbolu in Aniocha South area of the state.

The statement called on the general public to be cautious of impostors who parade themselves as military men and to report culprits to the nearest security agency.

Items recovered from the suspects include a military jungle hat, fake army ID, Nigerian army shoulder badge and charms amongst others.
