Scores of youths in Iragbiji community, hometown of the Governor of Osun State, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, today stormed major roads, displaying dangerous weapons in protest at the death of a prominent herbalist who allegedly died of food poisoning.

It was gathered that the herbalist had on Tuesday this week attended a naming ceremony in the town where he reportedly ate and consequently developed a stomach upset and later died at the party.

Youths in the community suspected that the herbalist was poisoned by those who organised the ceremony.

The youths, who were armed with cutlasses, broken bottles and other dangerous weapons around the Alabi junction and the palace of the community, barricaded the Ada-Ikirun road where they made born fires.

The rampage disrupted business activities as shop owners shut their doors, while motorists were denied use of the road as they threatened to attack any motorist that dared their directive.

When the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola was contacted on the issue, she explained that at about 9:50 AM in Iragbiji, some hoodlums assembled themselves to make bonfires on the road denying motorist to access the road.

Mrs Opalola stated that the reason why the youths were burning tyres at Orita-Alabiamon to Aragbiji Palace was that the police arrested one of them over drug-related offence.

She said policemen had been deployed from Ikirun and Iree including the Joint Task Force team to the scene and had chased the hoodlums away from the road and restored peace in the area.
