Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects for robbing a church at Shagamu area of the state.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statement issued in Abeokuta said the suspects, Fidelis Francis and Lukman Jimoh were arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Shagamu Divisional Headquarters that a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, located at GRA Shagamu was under attack by suspected robbers. 

According to him, the DPO Sagamu Division, Mr Okiki Agunbiade, mobilized his men and the local vigilante to the scene, but the robbers escaped through the fence before the arrival of the policemen.

Mr Oyeyemiwho explained that the policemen suspected a vehicle parked not too far away from the church and mounted surveillance in the area, apprehended two suspects while trying to move the vehicle away.

He explained further that two iron bars similar to the ones recovered at the scene of crime was recovered from the car, while the CCTV footage showed the two suspects breaking into the church. 

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Ajogun, who commended the display of professionalism by his men, directed an in-depth investigation into the case with the view to charging the suspects to court as soon as possible.
