Residents of Olofa Way, Ofatedo community in Egbedore Local Government Area, Osun State are living in palpable fear following a letter allegedly written by some suspected bandits threatening to kill all members of the community.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the threat was contained in a handwritten letter on three pieces of papers, dropped at strategic places in the community.

The authors of the letters are demanding a ransom of twenty million naira from the community to avoid the invasion.

The three letters which were written in English and Yoruba language sighted by our correspondent read:

“Kere o eyi ni lati so fun yin wipe Awa ole bo wa si gbogbo adugbo yin, kosi ile ti ani wo. Tabi ki e da ₦20 million si owe Chairman yin. Ti a bati de ki egbe fun wa”.

 “We are informing you that, we are coming to invade your community and we are visiting every household or contribute ₦20 million to your Community Chairman, when we come, you will hand it over to us,”.

The letters further read, “We will kill all the hunters that attempt to waylay us, we are coming fully armed and your security will be killed.” 

One of the residents, Mikael Lateef told Radio Nigeria that following the discovery of letters the residents had been living in panic, while some of them were considering relocation.

In an interview, the Field Commandant of Osun Amotekun Corps, Chief Amitolu Shittu, confirmed the incident, while reassuring the People that the security of the area had been fortified.
