Former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has commended the people of Zambia for keeping democracy alive through a peaceful general election.
The former president in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta to congratulate the newly elected President of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema on his victory in the general election commended the people of Zambia for a successful election.
The former Africa Union Chairman disclosed that reports reaching him on the election was satisfactory and urged the new president to be magnanimous in victory.
Chief Obasanjo advised the people of Zambia to break the circle of humiliation of previous Presidents by succeeding Presidents.
