A Supplementary appropriation bill of fifty billion naira has scaled through the first and second readings on the floor of the Oyo state house of assembly
This is sequel to a letter forwarded to the house by governor seyi Makinde and read by the speaker, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin seeking consideration and approval of the Assembly .
According to Governor Makinde, the fifty billion Supplementary Budget was to cater for three major projects not captured in the approved 2021 budget.
The three projects included, Ibadan Circular Road which takes the largest sum of Twenty-Five billion naira, Iseyin -Ogbomoso Road which takes Fifteen billion naira and improvement of Ibadan Airport , taking Ten billion naira.
Our correspondent reports that, With this development, the 2021 budget would increase from over Two Hundred and Sixty-Eight billion naira to the sum of over Three Hundred and Eighteen Billion naira.
During deliberations, minority leader, Mr Asimiyu Alarape and Mr Isiaka Kehinde harped on the need for speedy passage of the bill
The speaker, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, however, constituted an adhoc Committee on appropriation and finance to consider the governor’s application for the supplementary budget.
