A healthy operational synergy between security agencies has been advocated and described as critical to sustainable peace and security in our communities.
Residents of Kosobo community in Oyo town stated this while reacting to the shooting incident which occurred in the area last night.
Radio Nigeria gathered that some residents were about handing over a man they caught for stealing a phone to the office of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in their neighborhood when they were accosted by a man in mufti.
According to the owner of the phone, Mrs. Royimat Tijani, the man in mufti claimed to be a member of the Operation Burst but he had nothing to identify himself with when asked to do so.
The man was said to have left and later returned with a team of Operation Burst who started firing gun shots to prevent Vigilantes from taking the suspect, Lukman Akinsola to nearby Police monitoring unit.
In the process, Oyo state commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, comrade Sunday Olajide was wounded and taken to the state hospital for treatment.
The Operation Burst team however succeeded in taking the suspect away, including a vigilante, leaving residents of the community wondering why some security agencies indulge in unhealthy rivalry among themselves.
Meanwhile, the ugly incident has been reported at Durbar Police station but neither the Operation Burst nor the Police in Oyo town have been able to comment on the incident.
