Breast cancer is no longer as deadly as it used to be as it could now be treated in Nigeria hence the need for government at all levels to fund its care.

Founder, Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, BRECAN, Chief Mrs. Betty Akeredou stated this at a Walk against Breast Cancer held in Ibadan.

Mrs. Akeredolu noted that contrary to the fear entertained by many people that breast cancer was incurable, and spiritual in nature, it could be treated with early detection.

Similarly, the National President of BRECAN who also doubles as Oyo State Chairperson, Mrs. Tolu Taiwo noted, that awareness is currently ongoing at both the state level and the grassroots on breast cancer cure.

A breast cancer survivor, Mrs. Omoyemi Bello called on women to rush to the hospital if they detect any lump, pus, or bleeding in their breast.

The walk which attracted the attention of passersby through music started from the Leventis Area of Ibadan to Ijokodo.
