The Delta State government has expressed shock over the listing of the state by the British government among 12 locations allegedly earmarked for possible attack by the militant Boko Haram sect.

The state Commissioner for Information Mr. Charles Aniagwu, gave the response in reaction to a report on a national daily, which was attributed to the British High Commission in Nigeria, about the likelihood of terror attacks in the enlisted states.

Mr. Anigwu who denounced the report, said it was not a true reflection of reality on ground.

The Information Commissioner urge Nigerians and foreign nationals in the country to ignore the advisory by the British government, saying Delta state was peaceful and conducive for investment.

On the anti-open grazing law signed recently by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Mr. Aniagwu noted that efforts have been made to regulate the open grazing of cattle in the state, stressing the legislation will soon be published in a gazette.

The British High Commission in Nigeria had today published an advisory on the Vanguard newspaper, where the government had advised its citizens to avoid traveling to 12 states in Nigeria, supposedly in danger of Boho Haram attacks, including Delta State.
