Ogun State Government has expressed concern over the uncontrolled spread of illegal structures, especially shanties on the rights of way on the highway and indiscriminate parking of heavy trucks by drivers.

The Special Adviser to Governor on Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya stated this in an interview with newsmen during the on-the-spot assessment by the State Government Special Committee on Illegal Structure to Mowe-Ibafo axis of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Mr. Oresanya said the government would move against further encroachment of its acquired land and work on the relocation of the affected people to sanitize the environment.

He noted that the Physical Planning and Urban Development Ministry as well as that of Transport and Environment, Bureau of Land and Survey and other relevant agencies of government would meet and engage the stakeholders’ ways to improve on the government’s concept for the development of the affected areas. 

Mr. Oresanya gave the assurance that the present administration would be alive to its responsibilities of ensuring a decent physical environment by putting an end to further Infractions on the right of ways in the Mowe, Ibafo, Arepo, Isheri Olofin Town and other places.
