House Of Rep. Member Frowns at Discrimination Against People With Disability

Discrimination of any sort against people with special needs should not only be seen as a sin but a condemnable offence punishable under the law.

A member of Osun State House of Assembly, prince Adewale Adedoyin and other stakeholders stated this while speaking on the theme of this year’s world disabled day which is ‘Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible, and sustainable post-COVID-19 world’.

Prince Adedoyin who described effects of the COVID 19 on the educational structure of the country as devastating canvassed support for schools for special people with a view to making learning conducive for them.

A founder of a Non governmental organization, doctor Gbolabo Oni called on well meaning Nigerians to partner government to provide learning aids, for the students of Ijesa school for people with special needs and hasten work on the schools permanent site to mitigate the effect of COVID 19 experience on them.

A don , professor Adeboye Omole said since it caring for people with disabilities required extra efforts government and individuals should put welfare of the people who according to him were full of potentials in their priority list , stressing that disability did not mean inability.

Acknowledging the supports her school enjoyed from individuals, government and non-governmental organizations , the head mistress of the Ijesa school for the special needs, mrs Easter Ibironke solicited for more assistance as the lists of the students’ need is inexhaustible.
