Ogun State Government has proposed to spend over 2.04 billion naira for the renovation and expansion of some selected General Hospitals, Community mental hospitals and all Dental centers across the three senatorial districts in the state.

The Selected General Hospitals are General Hospital, Owode Egba,Onikoye Ransome kuti memorial hospital,Abeokuta and General medical clinic,Iberekodo,Abeokuta,in Ogun central senatorial district.

Others are General hospitals in, odogbolu,Odelemo and Ijebu ode for Ogun East while General hospitals in Ipokia, Imeko and Ayetoro would benefitted from Ogun west senatorial district.

Commissioner for health,Dr Tomi Coker stated this at the ongoing 2022 budget defence of the ministry to the members of the state house of assembly, Oke mosan,Abeokuta.

Dr Coker noted that the step was to improve the quality of life of the citizenry by providing good healthcare services that would be accessible and affordable to the people of ogun state.

According to the Commissioner, other projects listed for the next fiscal year were the construction of public health laboratory and emergency operation centre at Iyana Mortuary, Abeokuta and the construction of General Hospital at Mowe amongst others.

The commissioner defended a total budget estimate of 4.79billion naira for the State Ministry of Health, consisting of 3.091billion naira for capital projects and 1.70billion naira for recurrent, while 116million naira was being expected as revenue for the ministry,and a total budget of 6.151billion naira was presented for the State Hospitals Management Board.

In a remark, Lawmakers had canvassed for an even spread of all capital projects contained in the 2022 budget proposal of the State Ministry of Health, especially the construction and renovation of health care facilities across the State.
