A 14-year-old housemaid, Favour Iwuozor, has been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly abducting and running away with her mistress’s 2-year-old son.

The suspect was arrested after one Victoria Nwafor had reported at Sagamu Divisional Headquarters that she saw a 14-year-old girl on the 22nd of December 2021, with a very sick two-year-old boy in Yaba Lagos.

She told the policemen that she decided to take them to her house when the suspect had claimed that the small boy was her younger brother and that their parents died in a ghastly accident in December 2020.

Nwafor explained that she became suspicious when the suspect wanted to single-handedly take the boy to Imo State after the boy had fully recovered.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ogun State Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest of the suspect said the girl confessed that she was a maid to the mother of the little boy.

Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect had gone to the church to take the boy who was released to her by a Sunday school teacher on the grounds that the suspect was well known with the baby’s mother.

The PPRO noted that the suspect claimed that she decided to beg for alms to raise transport fare to Amraku Umorsu in Isiala/Mberna Local Government Area of Imo state.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole has ordered that the baby’s parents be contacted urgently, while the case should be forwarded to Lagos State Command whose jurisdiction the crime was actually committed.
