Stakeholders in Cashew business and Agricultural Value Chain have been urged to fashion out ways of improving the quality of the Nigerian Cashew to meet export requirements.

A cross-section of key players in the industry, under the aegis of the National Cashew Association of Nigeria, NCAN, made the appeal at a gathering in Joga Orile, Yewa North local government area of Ogun State.

Addressing the forum of cashew farmers and buyers from across the twenty local government areas of the state, the state Chairman of NCAN, Alhaji Abdul-Ganiyu Adeniji said it was imperative for the stakeholders to work towards ensuring quality control, ahead of the new harvest season of cashew in the country.

Alhaji Adeniji encouraged cashew farmers to preserve the crop in line with international best practices while urging the government to address the problem of extortion affecting the transportation of Agricultural produce on the roads.

Some of the farmers who spoke with Radio Nigeria also called on the relevant authorities to provide motorable roads in the rural areas to ease the transport of farm produce to the cities.
