Nigerians have been urged to give more support to the humanitarian service of the Red Cross Society.


State Chairperson, Nigerian Red Cross Society, Mrs Mojisola Ojo made the call during the annual general meeting of the body held at its headquarters, Onireke Ibadan.


Mrs Ojo who appreciated donations to the society by Nigerians, explained that Covid-19 had heightened humanitarian needs, hence the call for more support for the Red Cross to assist more people.

Mrs Ojo while reviewing the achievements and activities of the society in 2021, said appreciable progress was recorded amidst various challenges.


National Finance Property Management Adviser of the society, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, who equally commented on the activities of the group last year, stressed the need for youths empowerment and training of red cross members.


Also speaking, Baale of Eko Tedo, Chief Taye Ayorinde urged Nigerian Red Cross to adopt a strategic programme towards generating funds to implement its development projects in the state.


Representatives of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC all tasked members with the public necessity of voluntary humanitarian service which included rescuing of accident victims.


High points of the event were the presentation and adoption of 2021 branch audited accounts, annual reports as well as the nomination of the 2022 electoral committee.
