For the church to remain a formidable force,it must be able to produce strong spiritual leaders as in the early years of Christianity in Nigeria.

This was the submission of a Former Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province, Anglican Communion, The Most Reverend George Lasebikan while delivering a sermon at a special Holy Communion service to mark the 70th anniversary of the Ibadan Anglican Diocese, held at the Cathedral of Saint James’ the great, Oke-Bola.

The Most Reverend Lasebikan pointed out that God was with the Christian leaders of old because they were committed to the propagation of the gospel which led to expansion of churches and growth of the gospel across the country.

The Most Reverend Lasebikan believed that if the same enthusiasm and doggedness found in the lives of early Christian leaders were imbibed by current leaders, the church would be unbreakable.

The Most Reverend Lasebikan noted that the growth witnessed by the Ibadan Anglican Diocese, Anglican Communion in the last 70 years was as a result of the presence of God and the calibre of leaders who had served in the diocese.

The Cleric implored the diocese to always be grateful to God for how far he had led them admonishing them to remain confident that God’s presence would never depart from the diocese.
