The saying that’’ there is a reward for labour  became evident at the passing out parade of the 2021 Batch A, Stream 1 corps members deployed to Oyo state, where some members were given awards and commendation certificates for their outstanding performances.

However, some others were to receive various punishments for their ineptitude

At the event passing held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, Oyo state coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Mrs Grace Ogbuoegebe, explained that 18 corps members who absconded during their service year would have their one-year mandatory service repeated while 34 others would have their service year extended for absenteeism and insubordination.

Mrs Ogbuoegebe said there was a need for the corps members to update themselves with the current trends in modern technological innovation due to advancement in the area of information communication technology, ICT.

A corps member, Mr Adubasim John who received the state government’s award for outstanding performance at Tede in Oke Ogun, said the projects executed followed the support he received from well-meaning Nigerians.

Declaring the passing out programme closed, Oyo governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde represented by the state commissioner for youths and sports development, Mr Seun Fakorede said the government would reward Adubasim to serve as motivation to other corps members in the state.

Governor Makinde encouraged the corps members to make good use of their skills acquisition and entrepreneur scheme to become self-reliant.
