Men of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 38-year-old man, Akinyemi Thomas for allegedly impersonating a police officer. 

The suspect was arrested by policemen attached to Sagamu Divisional Headquarters who were on routine patrol of their area with the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Mr Godwin Idehai.

The spokesman of the Ogun State Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect was in full police camouflage uniform at under the bridge along Lagos Ibadan expressway. 

Mr Oyeyemi noted that the conduct of the suspect raised the suspicion of the policemen who stopped to question him.

He said the suspect confessed to be a dismissed policeman but using the uniform to extort unsuspecting members of the public. 

Mr Oyeyemi explained that a police warrant card was recovered aside the uniform.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole has ordered full investigation into the activities of the suspect with the view to charging him to court as soon as possible.
