The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC National Commissioner-in-charge of Southwest, Professor Kunle Ajayi has described the process of Saturday’s bye-election as peaceful.

Professor Ajayi while speaking with our staff reporter, noted that the electorate conducted themselves well in all the polling units visited in Akure South and Akure North Local Government.

The INEC commissioner praised the people for turning out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.

Also speaking, Ogun Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Olusegun Agbaje who also supervised the bye-election adjudged the process as peaceful, promising that the little hitches experienced with BIVAS would be looked into to make the system work better in future elections.

Our reporter observed the heavy presence of security agents in and around the INEC office as the result of the poll was being awaited.
