The Ecological Project office has handed over the flood and erosion control project at Ogbomoso to contractor and consultant for Prosecution .

The site handing over, sensitization and awareness creation ceremony was held at the Botanical gardens,one thousand four hundred theatre, Ogbomoso.

The ceremony had in attendance members of Ogbomoso community, Officials of EPO, contractor and the consultant.

The three thousand nine hundred and fifty metres project which cut across various sites included construction of roads and drainages.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the permanent secretary, Ecological project office, Dr.Habiba Lawal said the essence of the gathering was to bring together all stakeholders to collaborate to make the project hitch free.

The Permanent secretary in a message through the Direction Press and PR Ecological project office, Dr.Joel Oruche said the challenges of touts demanding for kickbacks on project and alleged attempt to influence master plan were major challenges for project execution,hence the need for the familiarisation meeting with stakeholders.

Speaking,the minister of Youths and sports ,Chief Sunday Dare who facilitated the project to Ogbomoso said the roads to be worked on were Adebayose Idowu-Dare street,Olusegun Obasanjo way,1004 Theatre road,R.Bello road and Muneer Ibrahim crescent.

Chief Dare however appealed to the people of the host community to cooperate with the contractor to make the project a success.

Speaking on behalf of Ogbomoso land,Are Ago,High Chief Samuel Shobalaje pledged the readiness of the Ogbomoso community to support the project.

The contractor,Engineer Olabode Ogundana gave the assurance that the project, which would be completed within twelve months,would meet the expected quality and address the problems of erosion.

Highlights of the event included signing of documents by all stakeholders and inspection of the proposed project site.
