Police Apprehend Boy for Allegedly Raping, Killing University Graduate
A 23 year old boy, Ikenna James has been arrested by men of Ogun state police command for allegedly raping and killing his 29 year old neighbour, Oluwatoshin Adefisayo, a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect in a statement in Abeokuta, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi explained that the suspect in company of his friend had allegedly broke into the apartment of the deceased in the night through the ceiling while she was fast asleep, raped her before they strangled her.
Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect, who live in the same compound with the deceased was arrested by the local vigilante when he was coming from the ceiling.
He noted that Ikenna James whose partner in crime had ran away confessed to the crime.
The PPRO pointed out that the suspect also informed the police that they decided to kill the victim after raping her because they discovered that she recognized them.
Mr Oyeyemi said Ikenna parents who described his arrest as good radiance to bad rubbish said they had already given up on him as he is the black sheep of the family.
He said the family also appealed to the authority concerned to ensure that appropriate punishment was awarded to him.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.
Mr Bankole also directed that the suspect accomplice be hunted for and brought to book.
