As the Osun governorship election approaches, Osun State Police Command has warned politicians, political groups and members of the public against any form of a political campaign, rally or procession without his permission.

The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Olawale Olokode gave the warning in a statement made available to newsmen by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola.

The statement reiterates the commitment of the command to maintain law and order in the state.

Noting that political activities are gathering momentum, it urges politicians to play the game as stipulated in line with the Electoral Acts 2010.

The statement indicates that it is imperative for any of the political parties or group to seek permission before embarking on rally or political campaigns to avoid a clash and  ensure provision of adequate security for such campaign as hoodlums may use it as an opportunity to cause mayhem in the state.

It solicits the understanding and cooperation of political parties and strong synergy between the Police and members of the public in order to sustain the peaceful and serene environment currently being enjoyed in the state.

The statement finally urges residents of Osun State to be law abiding as the police will not tolerate any activity that may lead to breakdown of law and order.
