Clerics say Nigerians and their leaders should emulate virtues of sacrifice, forgiveness, selflessness, obedience, love and holiness which Jesus demonstrated

They gave the charge during their sermons of Good Friday in Ibadan.

Speaking on the significance of the day, the minister in charge, Rehoboth Baptist Church, Gege, The Reverend David Adeotun, said Jesus epitomized humility, love selflessness, meekness, tolerance and obedience to God.


The Reverend Adeotun explained that Nigerian leaders and their followers lacked love noting that it had led to the current crises bedevilling the nation.
    

The Presbyter, method church Nigeria, Ekotedo Dugbe Ibadan, the Very Reverend, Abraham Akinyode admonished Nigerians to be compassionate and embrace tolerance.

In a sermon entitled: “when the Innocent Dies”, the Christ, church of the transfiguration, Anglican communion, Ikolaba, Reverend Afolabi Olusola bemoaned the level of innocent killings in the country and called on the government to put an end to the menace.

The Reverend Olusola urged Nigerians to intensify prayers to God and eschew evil.
