Some weeks ago, the Federal Government ordered people living under bridges in Lagos State to evacuate after the fire incident at the Apongbon Bridge.

The extent of compliance with the order has begun to raise serious concerns.

In this report, correspondent Shola Oguntoye examines the compliance rate to the quit order given and issues of environmental sanity.

The questionable lifestyle of the so-called social misfits in the society often linked them to social unrest and other dangerous activities, which informed why the government asked people living under bridges to vacate after the Apongbon bridge fire in Lagos

Observing the compliance level of the Federal Government’s directive by those under the bridge, Obalende, Radio Nigeria discovered that it was still business as usual.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria about the quit order, a public affairs analyst, Mr Oluwatimilehin Ogundola, hinted that the people must adhere strictly to the government’s position considering many factors that their presence under the bridge could trigger, including security threats and environmental pollution.

Mr Ogundola urged the government to implement the quit order to a letter without leaving any stone unturned because of the risk of life and the ridicule such could bring to the society.

On the evening traffic gridlock on Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie Road, Obalende, two respondents, Mr James Akon and Adebayo Paul, submitted that the authorities should do everything that would not impede the free flow of traffic on the road.

Other respondents, who spoke with Radio Nigeria, hinted that a society with a high level of sanity would beget a peaceful environment.
