Immediate past Chief of staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Chief Bisi Ilaka has emerged as the Oyo Central Senatorial District candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Chief Ilaka defeated his competitors, Messers Festus Adegoke and Olawale Ajani at the party’s primary election held at an event centre in Ojoo, Ibadan.

Announcing the results, the electoral officer, Mrs Bisi Odunsi declared Chief Ilaka as the winner of the election having polled 322 votes to beat his closet rival, Festus Adegoke who had 36 votes.

Reacting to his victory, Chief Ilaka expressed gratitude to the delegates and the leadership of the PDP in the state for his emergence.

Chief Ilaka stated that he was happy to have cross the first hurdle and affirmed that he was confident he would scale through the next hurdle to clinch the Oyo Central Senatorial District seat at the national assembly.

Chief Ilaka said Oyo Central Senatorial District had not benefitted from the dividends of democracy over the years and he was the right choice to change the narrative.

Earlier in an interview, the PDP chairman in the state, Mr Dayo Ogungbenro said the primary election was a family affair and expressed satisfaction with the exercise.

Mr Ogungbenro expressed optimism that the PDP would emerged victorious in the state and win all contested positions in the 2023 general elections.
