Peter Nwachukwu, husband of late gospel artiste, Osinachi is to be arraigned on Friday this week by the Federal Government.

Osinachi, a lead singer at the Dunamis International Headquarters, Abuja died in April this year after spending days at a hospital following alleged battery by her husband.

The police subsequently arrested Nwachukwu after colleagues at the Dunamis International Headquarters alleged him of assaulting Osinachi.

According to the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, Nwachukwu would be arraigned before Court 56, FCT High Court, Wuse.

Nwachukwu is charged under Sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

Head, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, Department of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Yewande Gbola-Awopetun, filed the case with charge number CR/199/2022 at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on May 20, 2022.

Allegations leveled against the defendant include forceful ejection of Osinachi from the family home, contrary to the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, 2015, attempted pushing Osinachi out of a moving vehicle, which is culpable homicide, deprivation of liberty of movement.

Others include emotional, verbal, and psychological abuse of the victim contrary to section 14(1) of the VAP Act, 2015, forceful isolation from family by preventing the deceased’s mother and siblings from visiting her matrimonial home, child battery, with the cries of the children recorded and played on the phone.

Nwachukwu also stands accused of denying Osinachi access to her money for healthcare, and domestic necessities, thus forcing her into begging and borrowing, while also threatening and preventing their children from reporting the acts of domestic violence against their mother to his pastor, Dr. Paul Enenche or any other person.
