The Deputy Inspector General of Police coordinating the Ekiti governorship election, Mr Johnson Kokumo says all polling units and every part of the state will be properly secured during the exercise billed for Saturday.

Mr Kokomu, who was addressing Newsmen in Ado Ekiti on the arrangements put in place by security agencies to ensure a peaceful poll, urged those who had nothing to do in Ekiti to steer clear of the state.

He announced that there would be restrictions on movement on Saturday from six in the morning to five in the evening, urging residents to abide by the order.

He ordered the withdrawal of Policemen attached to VIPs calling on other security agencies like DSS, and NSCDC to do the same.

Mr Kokumo said the deployment of about twenty thousand policemen for the Election was not to intimidate residents but to ensure peace.

The DIG however warned officers on election duty again misconduct, especially the misuse of fire, saying that armed officers would not be deployed at polling booths.

Mr Kokomu pointed out that soldiers would mount Ekiti borders with its neighbouring states.
