A middle-aged woman is now in the police net for allegedly stealing a baby at Nwawulu street, Okpoko, Anambra state.

A release by the Police command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, explains that the 29-year-old suspect, who hails from Isinkwo Abaomege in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State, committed the crime at Nwawulu Street, Okpoko, Onitsha.

According to the release, preliminary information, the suspect is a neighbor to the parent of the child.

She initially denied any knowledge of the whereabouts of the 3-year-old girl.

But upon interrogation, she confessed to stealing the child with the intention of selling her.

The child has been recovered from her and handed over to the parents.

The release adds that further development shall be communicated as investigation is ongoing on the matter.
