1, 782 pilgrims have been airlifted back to Nigeria from Saudi- Arabia where they participated in this year’s Hajj exercise.

The pilgrims were airlifted through four flights with the inaugural return’-trip which commenced on Friday, 15th July with 423 pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory.

The latest flight MAXAIR NGL2002 departed Jeddah this morning with 515 pilgrims from Borno and 4 officials.

The last flight, FLYNAS XY7006, which departed yesterday left Jeddah to Lagos at 21:21hrs Nigeria time with 420 Osun State pilgrims and 9 Officials.

According to Chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Alhaji Zikirullah Hassan the pilgrims’ departure would be in line with their arrival into the holy land.

Alhaji Hassan who asked for the cooperation of other stakeholders gave an assurance that the airlifting of pilgrims back to Nigeria would have been compjleted before August 13 deadline given by Saudi Arabia.

Our Correspondent, Ridwan Fasasi reports that 39,409 pilgrims are still in Saudi- Arabia awaiting their departure .
