Ogun State Police Command has called on the media not to fall to the antics of cultists and their sponsors by exercising caution before going to press on issues relating to security.

The Command spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi made the call in Abeokuta while debunking some Newspaper headlines on a crisis in Enugada area of Abeokuta between policemen and some cult members.

He stated that some Media houses had reported narratives that were contrary to the true position of the incident.

Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the anti cultists’ team of the police were on routine patrol of the metropolis and sighted two of the most wanted cultists that played major roles in various violent clashes within Abeokuta.

The Police spokesman said the two suspects ‘’Akuko Beggar’’ and ‘Slim cash’’ were arrested only for the police team to be attacked, with a machete cut injuries on one of the policemen, and one of the suspects “Akuko Beggar” was set free.

He said the hoodlums also attacked the divisional headquarters at Enugada but were repelled by policemen during which three persons got injured, and were all recuperating in the hospital.

The Ogun State Police Command then stressed that it would not be discouraged in the war against cult activities by propaganda embarked upon by cultists and their sponsors.

The Police Command called for the support and cooperation of the people to make Ogun State peaceful.
