A political scientist, Dr Gbade Ojo says there is a need for people living with disabilities to be included in governance.

He stated this at a colloquium held in Ibadan.

Dr Ojo who was the special adviser on political matters to Late Governor Ajimobi of Oyo State believed that democracy should be all-inclusive and not restricted to certain groups of people.

Similarly, the Spiritual Founder, Shafaudeen in Islam Alhaji Sabit Olagoke condemned in strong terms the non-inclusion of people living with disabilities in governance.

Alhaji Olagoke explained that in developed democracies segments of society such as people living with disability are not excluded in the political process.

On his part, Administrative Secretary, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Mr Biodun Onkate-Amosun, said the commission was committed to ensuring that all marginalized groups including persons with disabilities were engaged in the electoral process.

The programme convener, who is the Assistant National Secretary, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, Mr Yusuf Olatunji said the programme was borne out of the need to ensure an all-inclusive democratic system for all without any form of bias.
